Is pretty obvious, even when we declaim poetry, the music emerges in our senses. But, is not of intrinsic melodies in poetry that I want to write about, but how poetry actually feeds music.
This is 35 years ago. I discovered Gustavo Adolfo Becquer with a book of poetry that my dad gave to me among other classics. I was fascinated by this writings even when it was not poems easy digestible for our times. I felt very moved for those despair, love, extravaganza words conceived with certain air of eloquence and elegance at the same time.
I found that a lot of the songs I used to hear at this time, were somehow connected with the words I found on this poetry book of GAB. Immediately I started my own songwriting endeavor. Yes, I did my first song attempts inspired and based in spanish poetry from the XIX century.
This short piece talks about music, of course and tells about a harp forgotten in a dusty corner of a room, and finished it comparing how our creativity sleeps deeply awaiting for our calling to create new worlds through art. The “Lazarus come out” of art is related to links and triggers that all we often go through.
I would like to hear about you. What is the book that triggered you in the path of read to sing?
